POLICE in Cheshire have joined an initiative to cut its carbon footprint as part of a national bid to save £60 million.
Cheshire Constabulary has joined 68 local authorities aiming to save the total through the Carbon Trust scheme. Money saved by the force will give a boost to “front line” policing.
The force is set to reduce its energy bills by joining phase seven of the Carbon Trust’s Local Authorities Carbon Management programme.
Organisations from across England, Scotland and Wales are participating and will collectively cut their carbon footprints by 395,000 tonnes and energy costs by £60 million a year.
Dave Whatton, Cheshire Chief Constable, said: “Through working in close partnership with the Carbon Trust on its Local Authorities Carbon Management programme, Cheshire Constabulary will establish a carbon management strategy and identify a set of practical actions that will help us to save cash and enable us to reinvest savings into front line policing.”

To keep a balance, I trust that the criminal fraternity are doing the same.
