Man's jaw broken in street attack

A 26-year-old Warrington man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being the victim of a “horrendous” attack in the early hours of the morning.
He was walking home talking to his father on his mobile phone when he was confronted by a complete stranger at the junction of Smith Drive and Halsall Avenue, Orford.
The man asked for a cigarette and when the victim said he did not have any, attacked him.
He suffered a broken jaw which resulted in his jaw swelling to three times its normal size and part od his eyebrown was ripped off.
His father rushed to the scene and the victim was taken to hospital by ambulance. As yet, the victrim has been unable to give a description of his attacker.
Police are anxious to speak to anyone who may have seen the attack between 3am and 4am yesterday morning (Sunday).
