A SENIOR police officer, who previously worked in Warrington, has been awarded the Queen’s Policing Medal for a lifetime’s dedication to the people of the county.
Cheshire’s Deputy Chief Constable Graeme Gerrard, (pictured) a former chief of police at Warrington, received the award.
He joined Cheshire Police as a cadet in 1973 and became a Police Constable in 1975. He has worked his way up through the Cheshire ranks since then.
Mr Gerrard said: “The nomination came as a complete surprise but I am absolutely thrilled. To have your work acknowledged by the Queen is something quite special.
“I certainly never expected even to be nominated for such an award.”
Chief Constable David Whatton said: “This medal is a tremendous recognition of the work Graeme has done since he joined the Constabulary in 1973. There are very few senior officers in the country who have spent all their service in the same Force.
“This means Graeme not only understands Cheshire, but really cares about how all the men and women in Cheshire Constabulary serve our public. His outstanding leadership has been an inspiration to many.”
