Schools to remain closed

TWO Warrington schools will remain closed on Monday, following a major electrical fire which has already forced them to close for two days.
Great Sankey High School and neighbouring Barrow Hall Primary School are still blacked out by the problem.
Great Sankey Leisure Centre, which has also been hit by the power failure, will be closed throughout the weekend.
But public examinations at the high school are not affected and pupils from Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 have been instructed to report to the sports hall at 8.30am for morning exams and 12.30pm for afternoon ones.
The leisure centre is likely to remain closed for the early part of next week because although it is expected the power supply will be restored some time on Monday, it will take several days to get the swimming pools back up to temperature.
The centre will re-open as soon as possible to minimise disruption and facilities such as the gym, sports hall, etc., are expected to be back open early Tuesday.
A full reopening is expected in the latter part of next week.
In addition the telephone lines at the centre are also down.
Work on restoring power – which failed as a result of a small fire earlier in the week – has been hampered by the presence of asbestos in ducting. This has had to be safely removed before repair work could start.
More information can be obtained by calling one of the other Select Leisure centres in the town – Broomfields on 01925 268768, Fordton on 01925 572504 and Woolston on 01925 813939.
