Fire damaged barn to be rebuilt

PLANS to rebuild an old barn partly destroyed by fire have been given the go-ahead despite objections from five neighbours.
Warrington’s development control committee approved the scheme , on land off Oughtrington Crescent, Oughtrington,

Lymm, which had been submitted by the borough council itself.
Residents of nearby Bridge Close objected on the ground the new building would not be aesthetically pleasing, or in character with the semi-rural nature of the area
The original building consisted of a brick, single-bay structure with attached pigsties, probably dating from the 19th century, with a more recent steel framed extension.
The steel framed section was destroyed by fire some time ago and the brick section was found to be structurally unsafe.
Councillors were told building was needed for hay and grass storage in association with 14 acres of land rented from the council.
