A FIRE which damaged a family home at Appleton, Warrington, originally believed to have been started by a barbecue, remains a mystery.
The property on Bridge Lane, Appleton, was unoccupied when the fire started but an investigation by fire chiefs has ruled out an electrical fault or a barbecue as being the cause.
An explosion was caused by a petrol lawn mower in the garage and the blaze spread to an adjoining house.
The cause of the fire has been listed as unknown.
A 10 week puppy which was in the house at the time is being treated for shock but is expected to make a full recovery.
