Every child a reader

WARRINGTON Borough Council has joined forces with two neighbouring authorities to officially launch “Every Child a Reader” – a project aimed at youngsters who are still having reading difficulties after 12 months of schooling.
The partnership involves the borough council and the new Cheshire West and Chester and Chester East councils.
Twenty schools across the three areas are involved.
“Every Child a Reader” is supported and funded via a unique collaboration between charitable trusts, the business sector and government.
The aim is to ignite a love of reading that will stay with children for the rest of their lives.
Evidence shows that the programme works best a year into schooling which is the optimum period for intervention.
