PLANNING bosses will have to resolve a dispute over proposals for two agricultural buildings on a Green Belt site near Warrington.
Elton Park Properties are seeking permission for the steel-framed pitched roofed buildings – one for cattle and one for hay storage – on land adjacent to Dennow Farm, Firs Lane, Appleton.
Similar proposals were thrown out by planners last year on the grounds they were inappropriate in the Green Belt because they were not genuinely needed for agricultural purposes and were too close to Dennow Farm.
The applicants say there is now a genuine need – and that the buildings have been moved further away from Dennow Farm.
Appleton Parish Council and planning consultants acting on behalf of the owner of Dennow Farm have raised objections.
They challenge the “need” for the buildings, claim the proposals are not sufficiently detailed – and say the buildings are still too close to Dennow Farm.
They also argue that there is other, more suitable, land available nearby.
Planning officers are recommending the scheme be approved – despite the concerns of highways officers who say increased use of a restricted byway by cattle trucks could damage its unmade surface.
