Online boost for fundraisers

WARRINGTON Council for Voluntary Service has joined forces with online fundraiser Bmycharity to give a boost to its Grassroots Endowment Challenge.
The fundraiser’s free, online pages will make collecting sponsorship and fundraising quicker and easier and also keep donors and supporters updated with the progress of the Endowment Challenge, as well as the latest grants.
More than £70,000 has been awarded to the Warrington community from the Grassroots Grants scheme since its launch in September last year, benefiting 42 community projects.
There are two elements to the Grassroots Scheme – the grant giving and the Endowment Challenge.
Every penny that goes into the fund will return a much greater value. A £10 donation will receive match funding from the Government and then with Gift Aid that £10 becomes £25.60 to the fund.
Warrington CVS chief executive Nigel Bacon said: “We have a number of fundraising events planned for 2009 and Bmycharity is also able to offer us a range of selected overseas and UK challenges. The service is simple and secure to use and with Bmycharity’s support we hope to reach our fundraising target.”
Ben Brabyn, managing director of Bmycharity added: “Warrington is full of small groups and individuals who work tirelessly to tackle local problems. We are delighted to be able to offer our support to the Grassroots Endowment Challenge.”
Anyone who wants to help raise money for the scheme or make a donation should visit www.bmycharity.com/warringtongrassroots to set up their own webpage.
