Stamping out estate crime

A BUSINESS Watch scheme is helping stamp out crime on a Warrington industrial estate.
Companies on Burtonwood Industrial Estate have signed up to the scheme which sees them working together to deal with any issues or problems.
Police Community Support Officer David Brownlee approached every business in the area and the majority agreed to join up.
He said: “There has been a great response to Business Watch and all those involved are really pleased to be a part of the initiative.
“This is the ideal opportunity for businesses in the area to meet on a regular basis and discuss any issues or concerns they might have. They are forging close links with each other and with local officers and passing on vital information.”
The businesses, which range from engineers to floristry suppliers, share information about crime and anti-social behaviour in the area. They have compiled a directory of key contact numbers to keep everyone informed.
PCSO Brownlee said: “The Business Watch scheme is similar to a Shop Watch scheme in that it brings local businesses together and allows them to feed valuable information to one another and also to local officers. This flow of information is important as it helps to identify and target specific problems.
“The scheme reinforces the message that crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour is not acceptable in the area and provides valuable reassurance for local businesses.”
Anyone wanting more information about the scheme should contact PCSO Brownlee on 0845 458 6385.
