Kick smoking into touch

WARRINGTON Wolves have joined a campaign to help support people to “Kick Smoking in Touch.”
The Wolves Foundation has teamed up with NHS Warrington’s Stop Smoking Team.
On Friday at the Wolves home fixture against Wigan, 20 people will show their commitment to stopping smoking by kicking a specially designed rugby ball at half time.
Joining in the campaign is Councillor Pauline Nelson, an avid Wolves Fan and a champion of The Wolves Foundation.
She said: “It is the hardest task to do this on your own, but with the help of the Wolves fans, the foundation and Warrington’s Stop Smoking service, I will do my best.”
Gill Bent, NHS Warrington smoking cessation advisor, said: “Research has shown that you are four times more likely to quit using the NHS Stop Smoking Service than using willpower alone, and we want the people of Warrington to know that professional help is at hand if you’re trying to quit, either through one-to-one motivational support, group sessions, or treatment through prescription”
She said by signing up people will receive an invitation to a Wolves game and a unique rugby ball when they become smokefree.
Anyone interested in registering should contact 01925 843713 or email [email protected] and quote code rugby.
