Students' emotional trip to Ground Zero

WARRINGTON students studying public services took part in an emotional trip to New York where they heard first hand accounts and visited memorials associated with one of the world’s darkest ever days – 9/11.
Many of the students from Priestley College have ambitions to pursue careers in the police, fire or ambulance services and were given an insight into the ultimate sacrifice that was made by the NYPD and NYFD on the day in question.
The group spent four days in the Big Apple and visited both Ground Zero and its associated museum as well as local fire and police stations.
For those with a specific interest in the military, the group also visited West Point Military Academy.
To bring a little light relief to the visit, the students were also able to take in the typical tourist sights and sounds of New York including Times Square, Grand Central Station and Madison Square Gardens.
