Neighbour tackled house fire

FIRE Service chiefs at Warrington have praised a neighbour who went to the rescue when a computer burst into flames.
The blaze was in the conservatory at a house in Secker Avenue, Latchford and was spotted by a neighbour who saw smoke.
He ran into the house, covered the blazing computer with a wet cloth and threw it outside. As a result, damage was restricted to the conservatory.
A Fire Service spokesman said but for his action, the fire could have been much more serious. The occupiers of the house were all upstairs and only became of what was happening when a smoke alarm went off.
An electrical fault on the computer was blamed for the incident – and the spokesman said electrical appliances should be switched off when not in use.
The blaze was at about 5.30pm last night (Sunday)
