From ballet to street dancing

MORE than 80 young dancers will take part in a spectacular show which takes in everything from ballet to street dancing at Warrington’s Parr Hall today (Saturday).
Culcheth-based Hayward Dance Academy is presenting “The Snow Queen” ballet and “Divertisment” – an exciting blend of disco, street, tap, modern and jazz dancing.
The whole show has been produced and choreographed by ex-professional ballet dancer Rachel Hayward, who was formerly with the London City Ballet.
A solo spot will be given by her sister, professional dancer Natalie Hayward.
Children aged from two-and-a-half to 18 will be taking part.
Taking the lead role of The Snow Queen is 12-year-old Aylish MacKenzie, who for the last three years has won a place on the Northern Associate Dance Course – a prestigious course for the region’s most talented young dancers.
Rachel said: “The show will give all my students the opportunity of appearing on the stage in front of a large audience.”
Hayward Dance Academy holds classes at Culcheth Sports and Social Club, Culcheth Royal British Legion and Padgate High School.
The curtain rises on tomorrow’s show at 3pm.
