All smiles for dental practice

PLANNING bosses at Warrington have agreed to allow an NHS dentist to double the size of her surgery – despite strong opposition from neighbours.
Dentist Jill Cooper has won planning permission consent for a second dentist to practice from her surgery in a semi-detached house in Rushgreen Road, Lymm.
More than 20 neighbours opposed the proposals on the grounds of increased noise, parking problems and a lack of privacy.
But the borough’s development control committee approved Mrs Cooper’s application to vary conditions imposed on her original planning consent, granted two years ago, which limited her to just one dentist.
The second dentist will work from a first floor surgery – but a condition was imposed that soundproofing be installed between the surgery and the next door house.
Objectors claimed 1,000 NHS patients were already using the surgery, plus a number of private patients.
They feared that if the numbers doubled existing problems of traffic, parking, noise and disturbance would worsen
There was support for the expansion of the service, however.
Eight people wrote letters supporting the proposal. Lymm Parish Council raised no objections and Coun Sheila Woodyatt said she fully supported the application.
She said: “This is the only NHS dental practice in Lymm and an expansion of the service will be of great community benefit.”
