A PLAN to convert two barns to offices is being opposed on the grounds that it represents the creation of a “mini industrial estate” in a rural area.
The plan at Hollingreave Farm, in Dam Lane, Rixton is due to be considered by Warrington’s development control committee and officers are recommending it be approved.
But local councillors have lodged objections on the grounds it would be inappropriate use of Green Belt land to create a “mini industrial estate.
They claim it could lead to traffic problems, lead to additional traffic on what is nothing more than a farm track and will bring no benefit to the local economy nor to nearby residents.
Planning officers say the proposals do not cause any detriment to highway safety, that the buildings are well screened and that parking arrangements are satisfactory.
They point out the proposal is for offices – not industrial use.
