YOUNG people from across the Warrington area have pooled their collective talents to help set two budding bands on the road to stardom.
Organised by Aimhigher Cheshire and Warrington, the bands Blue Thunder and Arcade Deluxe, made up of students from Warrington Collegiate, visited the University of Chester’s Warrington campus for a day to live the life of rock stars.
Under guidance from the university’s commercial music production students, the groups spent five hours in the music studios recording a track and seeing their work going through the production process, while 14 pupils from Penketh, Padgate and Sir Thomas Boteler high school’s recorded the bands in action as part of a video recording project.
Senior lecturer Russell Dyson said: “We saw this as a great way to promote the commercial music production programme to young people in the Warrington area, while giving our students the opportunity to put what they are learning into practice, and I’m sure they will have gained a lot from the experience.
“The young pupils who came as part of their video filming project were very engaged and enthusiastic and, as a direct result of the event, two of the band members even said that they intend to apply to study commercial music production at the Warrington campus.
“It was a fantastic day all round, and one from which I’m sure everyone who took part benefited.”
