A TEMPORARY one-way traffic system which has been operating for several months looks set to become permanent.
Warrington Borough Council proposes to make an order to make Quarry Lane, Appleton one way in a south to north direction.
Anyone wishing to support or oppose the change must to so by writing to the council’s legal services section by May 21 and objections must specify the grounds on which they are made.
Plans are available for examination at the Legal Services Section, Quattro Building, New Town House, Buttermarket Street, Warrington during normal office hours Monday to Friday.
The temporary one way system, between Quarry Lane’s southerly junction with the A49 London Road and its junction with Windmill Lane, was introduced following consultation with local residents who said motorists were using it as a shortcut to avoid the traffic lights at the northerly junction with London Road.
Highways chiefs believe the change has proved successful.

What determines whether it was a success or not?
IF a road is closed, drivers cannot use it. Therefore, the complainants will say it was a success, but the motorists wouldn’t.
