Town centre prepares for 'Food Fest'

1

THE first ever ‘Warrington Food Festival’ takes place this Thursday (April 30) and a whole range of cuisine and culinary expertise will be celebrated around the town centre.
Shoppers at Golden Square can tuck into delicacies ranging from German bratwurst to Turkish Delight, Spanish tapas and French patisserie as the Old Market Place is transformed into a bustling display of global foods.
There will also be the chance to try more unusual foods discovering the secrets behind delightful sounding dishes such as Frikadella and Schashlik as well as sampling fare from far away shores with representatives from Taiwan and Japan also joining the action. And to wash down the culinary delights of the continental market there will be a bar offering world beers and wines with experts on hand to recommend tipples to suit all tastes.
In contrast to Golden Square’s international spectacle, Warrington Market will be celebrating the Best of British on Saturday May 2 with stalls championing home-grown produce and local farmers working alongside the regular traders.
Ian Cox, marketing manager at Golden Square said: “The shopping experience in the centre is a key priority for us all year round and Warrington Food Festival gave us the perfect opportunity to bring something new and exciting for the bank holiday weekend.
“These foodies are the best in their field and travel around the country selling their produce in big cities like Manchester and Birmingham and we’re delighted to host them here at Golden Square.”
Golden Square’s continental market is sponsored by Village Hotel, Warrington and will be open every day from April 30– May 3.

  1. I went to this over the weekend and thought it was fantastic. Exactly what Warrington needs in my opinion and should take place on a regular basis if not be a permanent fixture.
