Missing rope mystery still unsolved

THE mystery of the “lost” tug-of-war rope remains unsolved.
Coun Peter Caswell told members of Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council that despite widespread appeals, the rope used for the tug-of-war contest at the annual Culcheth Community Day, had not been found.
It was last used at an event in Croft in September, after which someone took it away for safekeeping. But now no-one can remember who took it!
The rope is needed for the contest to be staged on this year’s Community Day on Culcheth Village Green on May 4.
A number of local pubs and organisations are expected to enter teams of 6, 7 or 8 members.
Coun Caswell said he had no doubt another rope could be found. But it was required to be made of jute or sisal, rather than a plastic fibre which could cause burns, with a diameter over 30mm and length of more than 20 metres.
But he hoped the original rope could be found.
