A chance to save £500-a-year

PARENTS in Warrington have a chance to save £500-a-year and also help the environment – simply by stopping using disposable nappies.
The borough council is supporting Real Nappy Week, which runs from April 27 to May 3.
Council chiefs hope to raise awareness of how using washable cotton nappies can save both money and the environment.
A spokeswoman said: “Parents can save at least £500 a year when they make the switch and further savings can be made when nappies are passed down and used again and again!
“The council is now helping parents to save even more money by providing nappy starter packs at a 75 per cent discounted rate and there is also an introductory nappy laundry service offer which is perfect for parents who want to use the nappies but don’t want to wash them.”
Many parents use cotton nappies in the day and disposables at night, or cotton nappies at home and disposables when out and about but the council would like even these parents to switch to real nappies all the time.
Using disposable nappies can double the amount of waste a family produces – and disposable nappies take more than 500 years to decompose in a landfill site.
