Giant rocket arrives in town

A ROCKET which should become the largest ever to be launched from the UK later this year went on display at Warrington.
The 58-feet long Starchaser Nova II rocket is due to be launched from Morecambe Bay in November.
But it arrived at Warrington’s Priestley College as part of a tour of educational establishments across the country.
The Nova 2 has been developed by Starchaser Industries to test a number of on-board systems with the company aiming to send space tourists into orbit by 2013.
Upon its launch the capsule ejected from the rocket will be unmanned and land back to earth via parachute. Once the system is validated it will form the basis of the one that will be used for fare paying passengers in the future.
Priestley physics tutor Deb Pressage said: “The size of the rocket had to be seen to be believed and left a number of our students in complete awe.
“It is amazing what the company is trying to achieve in the race for space exploration – we wish them the very best of luck in their journey.”
