MORE than 40 of the people who help clean Warrington’s streets and keep its parks blooming have passed work-related NVQs with flying colours.
The 43 high achievers from the borough council’s environmental management service received their certificates at a presentation evening at Walton Hall.
They completed an NVQ level 2 in horticulture, street cleansing and waste management.
Friends and families attended the event and certificates were handed out by the leader of the council Ian Marks and executive member for environment and regeneration Alan Litton.
The ceremony was also attended by the Paul Morton of Mysercough College, the council’s partner training provider in this field.
Coun Litton said: “This NVQ programme helps the council to equip its staff with the necessary skills to meet the demand for quality public service to residents of the borough as well as supporting staff to reach their full potential.”
The coming year will see a further 40 employees in the environment team enrolled on various NVQ courses, while six employees are studying to become assessor/ trainers.
