ESSENTIAL maintenance work on a railway bridge at Warrington is taking longer than expected – meaning a temporary road closure will be in force longer than originally planned.
The prohibition on driving in Froghall Lane, from its junction with
the A57 Midland Way and the junction with Arthur Street, was originally expected to end on Monday, April 13.
But it is now expected to remain in force for an additional week until April 20 – much to the annoyance of local shopkeepers who claim they are losing business.
The closure will be in force when signs are on display and an alternative route will be signposted involving Froghall Lane, A57 Priestley Street, Lovely Lane, Bewsey Road and vice versa.
The alternative route for vehicles travelling eastbound will be via A57 Midland Way, A49 Lythgoes Lane, Pinners Brow and Tanners Lane.
