NATASHA Podmore, from Appleton, Warrington, led the University of San Francisco women’s golf team to victory in a major tournament.
The team won the Oregon Duck Invitational by 15 shots at Shadow Hills Country Club, Oregon.
Four USF players finished in the top 10 led by Natasha who captured medallist honours at 218 (71, 72, 75) and was the only player in the field to have two rounds at par or better. It is the first USF career tournament victory for Natasha and the second win for the team this year. Natasha has been at the university for three years.
USF head coach Ria Quiazon said: “Every person on the team contributed again. I am so proud of the way they adjusted to the conditions of the course. They made terrific decisions on club selections and kept their composure despite some challenging conditions.”
Quiazon was proud of the lift Natasha gave the squad and said she had worked very hard on her putting in the last couple of weeks, which had made a huge difference.
Natasha led the field in par-3 scoring at four-under and paced the field at most holes at par or better with 46 out of 54, including seven birdies.
