FIRE prevention officers will today target an area of Warrington plagued by a series of fires involving wheeled bins and rubbish in recent weeks.
This follows another blaze during the night involving bins at Greenings Court, off Battersby Lane.
There was no damaged to property, but bins and a quantiy of waste material were destroyed.
A Fire Service spokesman said: “There have been a worrying number of fires of this type in this area in recent weeks.
“We are starting a leafleting campaign today to advise local residnets of the need to place their bins in safe places where they are unlikely to attract the attention of vandals and also well clear of property.
“It is only a matter of time before one of these fires turns into something more serious.”
Schools will also be visited by fire prevention officers who will warn of the serious consequences which might follow what to some youngsters might appear to be “just a bit of fun”.
