Plans honeymoon is over

CONTROVERSIAL proposals to convert a former church into a nursing home at Warrington are to come before planning chiefs next week.
The scheme involves the former Norris Street Methodist Church at Orford.
It was due to be considered by the borough council’s development control committee last week – but was deferred because two councillors who had lodged objections were away on their honeymoon.
Coun Paul Kenny and Coun Yvonne Fovargue married recently – believe to be a “first” for serving councillors at Warrington – and could not attend the meeting.
More than 200 local residents also oppose the scheme which they say it will increase traffic and parking problems.
But officers are recommending the scheme be approved.
