WARRINGTON students had treble success at a regional cross country championships held in Blackburn.
The Priestley College students joined colleges from throughout the North West at Witton Park to compete for the regional title and for places at the forthcoming National Championships in Loughborough.
In the male event Daniel Cliffe finished in first place, and in the female race Amy Rose Talbot also took first.
In the team event the men won overall with Ste Broadhurst (third), Mat Jackson (fifth) and Brian Gallagher (12th), which in addition to Cliffe’s first place finish made Priestley the North West Champions.
All five have now qualified for Loughborough on April 3-5. Fellow female runner Sarah Griffiths came in seventh and missed out by just one place.
Sports tutor Paul Hopper said: “We have been blessed this year with some champion runners who all combine their studies with many hours on the road preparing for events.
“We were delighted to enjoy a treble success at regional level and look forward to performing on the national stage.”
