Police to meet problem youths

YOUTHS gathering around the Bridge Lane shops in Appleton are causing a nuisance according to Police Community Support Officers.
PCSO Paul Birch told the parish council police were planning a meeting with youths to discuss problems raised by local residents.
He said: “We just seem to be moving youths from one place to another. So we decided to get the youths in, explain the problems we are having and see if we can work with them and find a better long term solution.
“Moving them on just moves the problem elsewhere.”
He said a Youth Action Meeting had been planned and flyers had been posted in Bridge Lane and leaflets given out in assembly at the high school.
PCSO Birch reported Appleton crime statistics for the past month. There were three thefts from motor vehicles, five incidents of criminal damage, three drugs offences, three burglaries, two thefts, two sex offences and one assault. He said two of the burglaries were on the Appleton Trading Estate.
