Pensioner targeted by vandals

A PENSIONER who moved to the Warrington area from London, hoping for a “quiet life” has been the victim of repeated acts of burglary and vandalism.
Since moving to his quaint cottage at Lymm he has been burgled several times, had his car vandalised, been flooded three times and now has had his garden targeted by vandals.
Charles Johnson, 73, of Warrington Road, said daffodils planted in his garden and on the verge outside his home by the parish council were “ripped out” during the night by vandals.
At the same time they demolished a road sign and uprooted a direction sign for a local piano restoring business and hurled it into a stream.
Mr Johnson, who previously worked in insurance and lived in South Wimbledon, moved to Lymm about 10 years ago to be near his daughter. He and his wife moved into the cottage and spent time renovating it to create a peaceful home.
He said: “The vandalism took place overnight. I came out and found the damage. It is upsetting that people can be so mindless.
“They have pulled up the flowers and strewn them all over the pavement and the road. It is awful as they were such beautiful flowers.”
He said he likes living in Lymm but finds the vandalism upsetting.
Yvonne Cook, clerk to Lymm Parish Council, visited the scene of devastation.
She said: “Vandalism occurs here quite regularly, but it is unlikely that the culprits are from Lymm.
“This is the main road through the village and just about anyone can pass through.”

  1. Don’t y’all have a police force who’s job it is to prevent these things from happening?

Somebody is not doing their job, no matter how many excuses they make.
