Funding plea for public toilets

A REQUEST is being made for funding towards re-opening the public toilets in Stockton Heath, by the parish council.

Members have formed a working party to look at providing public toilets in the village, and one option is to re-open the facility on the Forge car park.
Coun Peter Walker told the parish council the working party had considered two options –

refurbishing the existing toilets or having an arrangement with local businesses for the public to use their toilets. He said: “We are asking the parish council to write to the borough council to see if they will share the cost of re-opening the existing toilets.”Members heard that if the toilets were re-opened the borough had said a full time attendant would be needed.Coun Walker said the borough council was already incurring charges for the toilets such as business rates, electricity and the cost of someone cleaning the disabled toilet which was still open.
