Planners wait on honeymoon couple!

PLANNING chiefs have put off a decision on controversial proposals to convert a church into nursing home – because two of the main objectors are on their honeymoon.
Coun Paul Kenny and Coun Yvonne Fovargue married recently – believe to be a “first” for serving councillors at Warrington – and could not attend a development control committee to oppose the plan.
Two other councillors, Mike Hannon and his wife Kate, who had also objected, were on holiday.
So the committee deferred a decision until their next meeting.
The plan involves the former Norris Street Methodist Church.
Local residents are opposing the scheme because they say it will increase traffic and parking problems.
But officers are recommending the scheme be approved.
Local resident Bernie McDerra said: “On a daily basis we suffer from traffic congestion, noise and pollution and this development will add to that. Parking is a daily problem for all local residents.
“The area just cannot cope with a development of this nature which will require 24 hour access for large as well as smaller vehicles. Residents’ lives will be blighted and it’s a price we are not prepared to pay.”
