Red Nose Day came early for some…

RED Nose day came early for some Warrington students – but that didn’t stop them doing “something funny for money.”
Comic Relief had to be fitted around a scheduled review day at Priestley College so the fun started earlier
From Sumo wrestling to five-a-side football, cake sales to raffles, the college community united in a common goal and in the process earned a tidy sum of more than £700.
Perhaps the most eye-watering and interesting spectacle on the day saw staff and students join in a Bush Tucker Trial where they were presented with the task of eating some rather unsavoury bugs in a scene straight out of the jungle.
College marketing officer Nat Ashurst said: “A lot of planning went into Comic Relief at Priestley this year with the entire campus a hive of activity throughout.
“Raising over £700 is a fitting reward for everybody, who dug deep and contributed, especially in the current economic climate.”
Many other “Red Nose” events were taking place across Warrington today.
At Culcheth Primary School, a staff v pupils netball game was going on.
At Bank Quay Railway Station, Virgin Trains were unveiling their new “Kiss Me Quick” and “Kiss Me Longer” signs to replace the original “No kissing” signs which caused controversy last month.
The original signs were being auctioned on ebay – and had received an offer of £112.
