TOMORROW (Wednesday) is No Smoking Day – and Warrington North MP Helen Jones is encouraging smokers to take the first step and kick the habit.
Thousands of events are taking places across the county in this, the 26th year, of the initiative.
Locally there will be interactive stands outside Warrington Bus Station, in the Fearnhead Community Café, at the Birchwood Shopping Centre and near Warrington Hospital’s main entrance.
The stalls are also running a competition to win signed Warrington Wolves balls, match tickets and leisure centre passes.
Ms Jones said: “No Smoking Day is a fantastic campaign to help and support
smokers who want to stop smoking. I’m encouraging smokers in Warrington to take the first step and give up cigarettes for good.
“A visit to the local stop smoking service for help and advice can increase the chances of success by up to four times.
“Stopping smoking can also prove to be of huge financial benefit with people being £170 per month better off.”
Dan Tickle, chief executive of No Smoking Day, the charity behind
the annual health awareness campaign, said: “Good luck to all smokers in Warrington who are taking the first step to improving their health in the best possible way. Stopping smoking is the ultimate lifestyle overhaul. You’ll feel fitter and healthier and have more energy and more money!”
