Thugs raid village store

FOUR men burst into a village store near Warrington and got away with cash and cigarettes after threatening staff.
The robbery was in Myddleton Lane, Winwick and left two women shop assistants, both in their 50s, badly shaken but unhurt.
The four men, wearing dark clothing and with their faces covered burst into the shop armed with a long pole and demanded cash.
They took money from the till and cigarettes from behind the counter and fled the scene in a blue Ford Focus with white markings on the door. Police believe the vehicle may have been involved in a minor collision with another vehicle as it left the scene.
The car, which is believed to have false number plates, was later found abandoned in Manchester.
DC Mark Naylor, who is heading the investigation is asking motorists who may have been in the area on Saturday afternoon, March 7, to examine their vehicles for minor damage.
He would also like to speak to anyone who witnessed the raid. Anyone who can help should call 0845 458 0000.
