A POPULAR Grappenhall venue has announced details of a forthcoming beer festival and an Abba tribute night.
The annual Grappenhall Beer Festival will be held in the Olde Barn at Grappenhall Community Centre on Friday evening, May 15, and at lunchtime and in the evening on Saturday May 16.
The Mandrills will play on Friday night and Fat Man’s Corner on Saturday night.
A wide selection of Real Ales ranging from heavy (and strong) brews to lighter beers will be available, together with ciders, soft drinks and wine. A commemorative glass is included in the ticket price and can be used to sample as many brews as visitors choose.
Social secretary Ginny Mair said: “The Olde Barn venue is ideal for this kind of event with a long bar and beer stillage installed to dispense the brews while the drinkers enjoy the live entertainment.”
She said a marquee would be erected to give additional “quiet” accommodation and hot food would be available.
The venue is also staging Mamma Mia! – an Abba Tribute Night – on Saturday March 14. ABBA Now! will be playing preceded by a showing of the Mamma Mia! film. People are being encouraged to wear fancy dress and there will be a prize for the best outfit. Tickets are £10.
Mama Mia! It's a beer festival!
