School hit by boiler breakdown

A WARRINGTON high school will be unable to fully re-open after the half-term break because of a boiler failure.
Birchwood High will be partially closed every day next week following a risk assessment which has indicated that some parts of the school will be too cold.
A complete boiler failure occurred earlier this week and repairs are not possible.
Portable heaters have been brought in but the whole school cannot be heated by this method without causing an electrical overload.
Headteacher Anne Bright said: “Both of the school’s existing boilers are beyond repair and new boilers, which have been ordered from Germany, will be fitted towards the end of next week. All learners will be given additional self-supported study work to complete whilst they are at home.
“I hope that the school will be fully open for ‘business as usual’ from Monday March 2.”
Next week, the school will be open to different year groups as follows:
Monday: Years 10 and 11; Tuesday: Years 7 and 11; Wednesday Years 9 and 11; Thursday: Years 8 and 11; Friday: Years 10 and 11.
The timings of the school day will remain unchanged and normal timetables will be followed so pupils are asked to take the appropriate equipment with them for the day. A letter has been sent by post to all parents or guardians.
Regular updates will be posted on the school’s website www.birchwoodhigh.sch.uk throughout the week.
