MUSIC, fashion and leisure from the 1930s to the present day will be featured in an exhibition being held at the Pyramid.
Twelve young people from Warrington Youth Club have organised a show looking into Warrington’s history, and it runs until February 22.
Dave McNicholl, senior manager at the club, based at the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Young People’s Peace Centre, in Great Sankey, said: “This has been an inspiring project which has captured the imagination and opinions of people of all ages across the town.
“The youth club has a range of projects that the young people work on during the year and this exhibition came about because the young people were interested in finding out more about local history.”
Young people visited local care homes to interview Warrington’s older residents about their memories to gain insight into the town’s past.
The exhibition contains information, artefacts, films, photographs, clothes, games and household items from the 1930s to the present day.
Students will be on hand to talk about their work and the facts they uncovered during the project which is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Jim Hind, NSPCC practice manager at the centre, said: “The young people who organised this show have shown real initiative and we are very proud of them and their work.
“The exhibition is fascinating and a fantastic display of the many talents and efforts that young people at the centre put into their work.”
Those completing the project are Natalie Baker, 14, Tom Jones, 14, Sam Jones, 15, Emily Farrell, 15, Aidan Cameron, 14, Karl Davies, 18, Lindsey Brooks, 19, Jordan Taylor, 17, Natalie Radcliffe, 16, Sam Campbell, 16, and Frazer McDonald, 15.
