THE new Lymm based Cheshire Cats under 12s will start their inaugural Summer campaign in the Kukri Midlands Rugby League with a county clash against near neighbours Chester Gladiators on May 10.
The 10 strong division – which includes Birmingham, North Derbyshire, Northampton, Nottingham and Redditch – will also see the Cats face Telford,Coventry and Derby and will culminate in the Grand Final on August 16.
David Butler – the Midlands Regional Development Manager for the RFL – is delighted with developments and is very positive that the new season will be a great success.
He said: “The Midlands is very much a development area of Rugby League and all of the clubs in the region recognise the need to support new clubs joining the Rugby League family.
“Cheshire Cats (and indeed Chester Gladiators) are very welcome additions to the Under 12s Kukri Midlands Rugby League, I am sure that they will make a very positive contribution to the competition.
“The ethos of the Kukri Midlands Rugby League is very much about getting games played and introducing young people to the sport of Rugby League and in my opinion, if every club in the league succeeds in making Rugby League a positive experience for these young people, then every club in the competition can consider themselves to be a champion.”
Training will commence at Crouchley Lane, Lymm on Wednesday April 8 at 6.30pm.
