Toilet graffiti shocks councillor

DISGUSTING graffiti on the walls of the closed public toilets in Stockton Heath have appalled a local councillor.
Members of Stockton Heath Parish Council visited the toilets in The Forge shopping centre, closed after reports of inappropriate behaviour, to asses their condition.
But Coun Helen Dutton said: “I was concerned about the graffiti in the men’s toilets. I was appalled by it. It worries me because it is disgusting.”
Members agreed that if the block was re-opened, spray paint could be used to cover the graffiti should the problem recur.
Head of the working party formed to look at providing public conveniences in the village, Coun Stephen Taylor, said the toilets were still in reasonably good condition. They could be updated to provide a good facility for the village.
Coun Peter Walker said the borough council had been contacted to see if the toilets could be re-opened. A cleaner visits the site each day to clean the disabled toilets, and he had asked what the additional cost would be to clean the whole block.
Coun Taylor said the working party was looking at other options for toilet provision in the village, including using commercial premises.
He suggested that if the toilets were re-opened the PCSOs could monitor the site as part of their work in a bid to ensure inappropriate behaviour did not recur.
