A MAN has now been charged in connection with the major fire which closed a row of shops at Warrington yesterday (Monday).
SHOPS were due to re-open today after being forced to close by a major fire which kept firefighters busy throughout most of yesterday (Monday).
A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the blaze which left three shops badly damaged and forced others to close in Orford Lane, Warrington.
The blaze broke out in the roof space of a flat over a physiotherapy clinic – and spread to properties on either side.
Fire crews had to break into a parked car to move it out of danger during the operation.
Building inspectors were called in because of fears about the safety of the roof structure – but today the site was said to be safe for most of the shops to re-open.
Six people were evacuated at the peak of the blaze.
