A CAR driver injured in a single-vehicle crash on the M56 near Warrington yesterday (Wednesday) is still in a serious condition in hospital.
The 39-year-old man, from the Burnley area, was flown to Wythenshawe Hospital by air ambulance after the crash on the westbound carriageway between Lymm and Bowdon.
Today he was still “serious but stable” with back and facial injuries.
The westbound carriageway was closed for several hours after the crash, causing major tailbacks and congestion on other nearby roads.
Police said it appeared the man had lost control of his car which left the carriageway and overturned several times before coming to a rest.
No other vehicle was involved.
