Driver serious after motorway crash

A MOTORIST is in a serious condition in hospital after a single-vehicle crash on the M56 near Warrington.
The driver – a man – was airlifted to Wythenshawe Hospital after the collision on the westbound carriageway between Lymm and Bowdon.
His condition is said to be serious but stable.
The westbound carriageway was closed and motorists are still being advised to try and avoid the area.
Severe congestion was being experienced.
A second accident, involving, two vehicles on the M6 also led to delays. But the motorway remained open and police said traffic was moving slowly. No details have been given of injuries.
