WARRINGTON-born international pianist Leon McCawley will be staging a charity recital in Lowton on Thursday March 5.
The piano recital, which will include works by Mozart, Chopin, Brahms and Schumann, will be held at St Catherine’s Church, Lowton, from 7.30pm.
Money raised will go to Jacob’s Well, a charity that sends medical and humanitarian aid to Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa.
In May 2007 Leon held a similar concert and raised more than £2,000 to help poor villages in Ghana.
During the past year Leon has been very busy and highlights include playing in Philadelphia with the Philadelphia Orchestra, performing at the Mostly Mozart Festival at the Barbican in London and a Christmas trip to Oman.
During spring this year he will travel to Seoul, South Korea, for his debut with the KBS Symphony. His wife Anna, who is South Korean, will join him on the trip and take the opportunity to see her family.
Leon was born in Culcheth and was brought up in Croft, attending St Lewis’ Primary School.
Tickets for the Lowton concert, priced £10 to include wine and a programme, are available from the church or St Lewis’ in Croft or by telephoning Margaret Ruxton on 01925 762879.
