More help for sick and disabled

MORE help is to be provided for the long term sick and disabled under Government welfare reform proposals – and the move has been welcomed by Warrington North MP Helen Jones.
Incapacity benefit is to be abolished and replaced with a new Employment and Support allowance which will focus on what people can do rather than what they can’t.
The Government believes everyone has something to offer and that talents should not be wasted.
As well as helping people back to work, the tax payer will also gain. For every pound spent on helping people back to work the taxpayers get back £1.50.
Ms Jones (pictured) said: “Over four and a half thousand people in my constituency could be
given more help to find the right job under the Government’s proposals.
“It is important that we don’t make the mistakes of the past when the last government pushed people here in Warrington onto incapacity benefit to hide the true unemployment figures and left people without any help to get a job.
“The Government is determined to give people real help during tough times. In the future people attending Pathways to Work will get one to one help from a personal adviser. They can also get specialist support to help them plan a return to work.
“For example, counselling for people with depression or pain management for
people with back problems.”
