Man, 76, knocked unconcious in street

AN elderly man is serious ill in hospital after being the victim of an unprovoked attack at Warrington.
The 76-year-old was left lying unconcious in the street after the vicious attack.
He was found by a woman passerby who called an ambulance and was taken to Warrington Hospital and then transferred to Fazackerley Hospital in Liverpool.
The attack took place in Sandy Lane West, Orford at about 8.40pm on Thursday, January 8.
A 59-year-old Warrington man is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
The victim suffered injuries to his face and his right arm and hand.
Police are anxious to talk to the woman who first raised the alarm and anyone else who may have seen the attack or anything else suspicious in the Sandy Lane West area.
