Planners to visit barn conversion

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington are to visit a barn conversion scheme which has provided 10 new homes before deciding whether a rear, single-storey extension can be added.
The scheme is at Grange Green Manor, in Mill Lane, Higher Walton.
Walton Parish Council has lodged objections on the grounds the extension would be out of character with the rest of the development.
Officers recommended the scheme be approved, but members of the borough’s development control committee decided to visit the site before making a decision.
The scheme is in the Green Belt and officers say the extension would preserve the character and appearance of the area because it is not visible from the road.
They say its design is appropriate because it mirrors existing features.
An existing, two-storey side extension has been built, they point out.
