FORMER students joined current staff at Priestley College’s annual Presentation Evening to celebrate another year of outstanding achievement at the sixth form college on Loushers Lane, Warrington.
The academic year saw the College’s pass rates remain above 99% for the fourth successive year, as entries surpassed 1000 for the first time. Thirty four Advanced Level subjects and all vocational courses achieved a fantastic 100% pass rate.
On an evening when many individual and collective achievements were celebrated, certificates were handed out to the entire class of 2008.
Seventeen individual prizes were also presented, representing the full range of curriculum areas and qualifications at the College. Amongst the award winners were Michael Christie, Graham Helliwell and Megan Tyler who have all since gone onto study at Cambridge.
The College’s own Choral Ensemble “Breathe” performed some festive music at the event.
College Principal, Mike Southworth, said: “We were delighted to welcome back so many of our achievers from this summer to celebrate their success.”
He added: “2008 was another landmark year for the College with outstanding pass rates from a record number of entrants. Priestley continues to go from strength to strength with a clear and shaped vision for providing young people with an exceptional educational experience.”
