Councillors did their best

LOCAL councillors “did their best” to stop plans for housing on a Warrington field – but were unsuccessful.
But Coun Celia Jordan told Stockton Heath Parish Council residents were now trying to get Village Green status for Cartwright’s Field, off Chester Road, Stockton Heath , and if they were successful then plans may change.
Coun Peter Walker said the application for 51 affordable homes by Warrington Housing Association had gone ahead despite opposition by councillors and residents.
He said: “The application is contrary to so many council policies, that I am convinced that if it was a private application it would have been rejected out of hand.
“It was affordable housing so it got through. But we did our best.”
But Coun Tudor Pole said he was in favour of the development.
He said: “There will be 51 happy families who get houses on Cartwright’s Field.”
