Golf club hit by arson attack

POLICE are investigating after intruders set fire to the clubhouse at a Warrington golf club in the early hours of today.
Fire crews discovered several seats of fire within the building at Poulton Park Golf Club, in Dig Lane, Cinnamon Brow.
The golf professional’s shop, a locker room and offices were badly damaged.
There was also severe damage to the roof and machinery store.
But fire crews, wearing breathing apparatus, managed to remove much of the gear inside the building before it was badly damaged.
At the heighth of the blaze, six fire engines from Warrington and Birchwood were involved in the operation.
Police are now investigating the incident.
